Carotid Artery Stenting vs. Endarterectomy –
The Controversy Continues...

Description
Carotid stenting is less invasive than endarterectomy, but is it as safe in patients with symptomatic carotid artery stenosis? Will the results of ongoing clinical trials provide additional evidence to support treatment choices for carotid artery stenosis?

Join two leading authorities in carotid artery stenting, Dr. Christopher White of Ochsner Clinical Foundation, and Dr. Kenneth Rosenfield of Massachusetts General Hospital, as they discuss current indications and the role of carotid artery stenting (CAS) in average- and high-surgical-risk patients. This complimentary Webinar will present the development of CAS, the results of recent randomized trials, and future perspectives regarding CAS.

The VIRGO Study: Dont miss this unique opportunity to change the future! (posted: 01/10/08)
Investigators at Yale University School of Medicine are actively seeking interested sites to join the VIRGO (Variation in Recovery: Role of Gender on Outcomes in Young AMI Patients) study, a four-year, recently funded NHLBI-sponsored project that will be the first large prospective study of young women (under the age of 55) with heart attacks. VIRGO focuses on the prevention and treatment of heart disease in young women, and will address a variety of factors including quality of care. Hospitals interested in joining this landmark study are invited to submit an online site survey at the VIRGO website.
